Too bad the article did not represent all that is happening and the reasons for why they are happening here at CCSF dead on accurately. The "decision" to reduce the number of non-credit classes as a reduction of budget is not accurate. If one looks at what the new California Community College's Chancellor has stated that, "With a wide range of educational offerings, the colleges provide workforce training, basic courses in English and math, certificate and degree programs and preparation for transfer to four-year institutions . So it seems that CCSF is coming into alignment with where the whole CC system is going.
This is just one of the slight misrepresentations.... We are trying to keep our accreditation not just by looking at and reviewing our finances. The process of SLO's is very active and ongoing and is absolutely a large part of what faculty are doing to keep us open. What Asimov reported upon is only what was talked about at the Trustees and Administration level.
